Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE:HPQ): Three new individuals have been added to HP’s board: former Microsoft chief software architect Ray Ozzie, former Liberty Media CEO Dob Bennett, and Walgreen chairman and former McDonald’s CEO James Skinner. The appointments follow Ray Lane’s departure three months ago, as well as two other board departures at the same time. The company is still looking for a permanent non-executive chairman.
Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG): While HP is welcoming three new arrivals, Google is bidding farewell to John Liu, chief of the company’s Chinese division, as he leaves to pursue “other opportunities.” European partnerships chief Scott Beaumont will take over for Liu and will be charged with expanding the company’s Chinese ad business and maintaining the dominant position that Android enjoys in the Chinese smartphone market.
Alvarion Ltd. (NASDAQ:ALVR): The Israeli wireless infrastructure hardware firm is declaring bankruptcy and has appointed the Court of Tel Aviv-Yaffo as a receiver for the company.
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (NYSE:TEVA): Rexahn Pharmaceuticals said that Teva has filed an investigational new drug application for the small molecule chemotherapy agent RX-3117 as a part of the two companies’ research and commercialization agreement they signed in 2009.
RadioShack (NYSE:RSH): A clip from TheDeal discussing the company’s buyout potential has sent shares up over 4.45 percent. The site also notes that new CEO Joe Magnacca helped turn around Duane Reade while it was owned by the private equity firm Oak Hill, prepping the drugstore chain for a sale to Walgreen. Magnacca has been reinventing the store’s retail locations, as well as focusing on higher margin goods.
